Visit of Chief Minister of Uttaranchal

 
   
 
  Hon. Chief Minister of Uttaranchal, Mr. Narayan Datt Tiwari, visited Australia from 14-17 December 2006. He was accompanied by several senior officials of the State Government.

In Sydney, Hon. Chief Minister interacted with major Australian tour operators and tourism related media and met members of the Indian community. Hon. Chief Minister and delegation were also briefed by the Macquire Bank and visited NSW Parliament.

In Melbourne, the Hon. Chief Minister met Lord Mayor John So, and interacted with business representatives and members of local Indian community. Hon. Chief Minister and delegation were also briefed by Invest Victoria, which is involved with promotion of investment into Victoria and has office in India.

 
     
 
     
  Visit of Chief of Air Staff
Chief of Air Staff of India, Air Marshal S.P. Tyagi, visited Australia from 6-10 December. During the visit he met ACM Angus Houston, Chief of the Australian Defence Force; Air Marshall Geoff Shepherd, Chief of Australian Air Force, and visited Defence institutions and facilities. He laid a wreath at the 'Tomb of the unknown soldier' in Canberra.
 
     

 
   

 

 

     
  Hyderabad to host Indiasoft 2007
 
     
  Hyderabad will play host to the global IT event of the country -- Indiasoft 2007 -- on January 9-10. The two-day global networking event, being organised by the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) at the Hitex International Exhibition Centre, will see more than 600 senior executives from the global markets as well as a host of renowned Indian companies. The last edition of the event, held in Chennai earlier this year, generated business enquires worth over Rs 150 crore, and the organisers are expecting this to grow 25 per cent this year.  
     
   
  U. S - India Peaceful Atomic Energy Cooperation Act Signed
December 18, 2006 was a historic day in the U-S - India ties, as President Bush signed The United States-India Peaceful Atomic Energy Cooperation Act. This Act will strengthen the partnership between the world's two largest democracies and help our countries meet the energy and security challenges of the 21st century.
