  India’s IT playground Bangalore, is the Capital of the Southern state of Karnataka. Being one of Asia’s fastest growing cosmopolitan cities, Bangalore is home to some of the leading Info-Tech industries in India. The city is globally acclaimed for supporting India’s premier scientific & research establishments. IT gurus by day, the people of Bangalore are party animals by night.  
         
 

Lal Bagh & Cubbon Park
Bangalore represents India’s strength in the IT industry. At the same time, the evergreen Cubbon Park and the botanical gardens of Lal Bagh speak for the rich culture of the Garden City of India. These gardens are the most sought after places for the early risers who enjoy long walks. The gardens today have over 1000 species of flora. The Glass House, modelled on London's Crystal

Bangalore Fort & Palace
Reminiscent of Bangalore’s monarchic past, Bangalore’s ancient fort is still standing strong today with the well-preserved Ganapathi Temple within. The ancient summer palace, which resembles the Daria Daulat Palace in Srirangapatanam of Bangalore’s bygone maharajahs, rests nearby. This palace of antiquity is celebrated for its elaborate carvings and paintings.

he Temples of Bangalore
Many renowned temples built by Kempe Gowda are located in
Bangalore. The Gangadhareshware Temple, being on the most famous of these houses a rare idol of Agni, the God of Fire. The temple’s uniqueness lies in the rare phenomenon that occurs on the 13th or 14th of January, every year. At sunset, the rays of the sun pass through a window in the shrine, and then between the horns of the Nandi (the Sacred Bull) and finally shine on the Lingam of Lord Shiva. Bull Temple, is another of Kempe Gowda’s famed temple where a 15 feet tall and 20 feet long idol of Nandi is situated.

Social Life in Bangalore

Besides the gardens and parks for those who enjoy nature, the city of Bangalore is a happening place for nightlife. You could drop by a pub or a discotheque, order your favorite cocktail, and enjoy the music or dance to your heart’s content. The children of Bangalore are avid followers of the game of cricket, and the city is known to have provided some of the finest sportsmen in the country.

 
         

  INDIAN CARRIERS GO ON A BUYING SPREE

Indian carriers, Jet Airways, Kingfisher, Paramount, IndiGo and others stunned the world aviation industry by placing orders for more than 200 new aircraft with Boeing, Airbus, Embraer and ATR at the Paris Air Show. IndiGo alone is buying 100 aircraft from Airbus Industrie and hoping to start domestic services later this year.
Of the 280 Airbus Industrie aircraft sale announced at Paris Air Show, 135 are being purchased by Indian carriers. The state owned airlines, Air-India and Indian Airlines are also buying new aircraft worth several billion dollars from Boeing and Airbus Industrie. Airbus Industrie has raised its estimate of aircraft requirements in India to 400 from 220 by 2023.

INDIAN RAILWAYS DEVELOP A TRAIN THAT RUNS ON CNG

Indian Railways have developed a train that runs on compressed Natural Gas (CNG). A four-compartment modified DMU Diesel Multiple Unit is being test run in New Delhi by the Railways. In New Delhi all public transport including buses are being run on environmental friendly CNG.

TEE OFF IN INDIA: BOOK ON GOLF BY PHIL RYAN AND THOMAS KING RELEASED


Tee Off in India: People, Places and Golf the first-ever golf travel guide to India, was recently released. The
  128 page guide is the most comprehensive book available on the burgeoning golf scene in this country. More than two dozen primecourses are profiled in depth with tee tips included at the end of each chapter. There is also a comprehensive list with contact details of more than 140 gold courses. Designed as the ultimate guide to the current state of play in India, the glossy book also includes chapters on a number of relevant topics ranging from the history of the sport in India and the environment to personalities that have been instrumental in shaping and developing golf in the country. The thoroughly researched publication has been co-authored by golf guru, Phil Ryan, the design architect of numerous signature golf courses in India and well known travel photojournalist and specialist writer on the subcontinent, Thomas E. King. Though based in Australia both authors Ryan and King have an intimate knowledge of India being regular visitors since the 1970s.

JAGSON AIR TO START HELICOPTER SERVICE TO AMARNATH CAVES

Jagson Airlines has announced plans to start a helicopter service to the Amarnath caves in Jammu and Kashmir. The airline would operate 44 flights a day from Srinagar and Baltal to the Amarnath Caves. “While we will operate two return flights a day from Srinagar, there will be 40 daily return flights from Baltal,” using
  a Bell 407 helicopter with a capacity a five passengers, According to Airline Chairman, Mr. Jagdish M. Gupta. The flights will start from June 26 and end on August 20, 2005.

FLEMINGO OPENS DUTY FREE SHOPS


India’s External Affairs Minister Mr. K. Natwar Singh inaugured four outlets – two each at the arrival and departure terminals of the Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi of a private duty-free chain, Flemingo International. On offer are an array of electronic goods perfumes and liquor among others and are competitively priced as compared to other shops in the world.

NETAJI SUBHASH CHANDER BOSE’S HOUSE RESTORED AS MUSEUM

New Delhi: The house in which Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, India’s legendary freedom fighter was born in Cuttack, Orissa has become a Museum showcasing glimpses of his life. The house has been converted into a museum by Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) under the guidance of Dr. O.P. Agrawal, Director General of Indian Council of Conservation Institutes. The museum contains a large number of photographs and objects collected from various sources apart from displaying items available in the building itself.
